Since its formation in 1995, Capital Area Team Sports, Inc. ("CATS") has been involved in a grand total of one lawsuit - and that one as a plantiff in a Canadian trademark infringement suit when one of our team logos was infringed upon.
That kind of record is rare for an organization such as ours - and at the same time indicative of how we operate: we do whatever is within our power to avoid being subject to legal or financial liability (sometimes to extents our own members consider excessive), meanwhile we fiercely defend our legal, intellectual property and other rights. We do everything we can to provide the best legal and liability safeguards possible - to our directors and officers, to club operators, and to players, so they can focus on building the organization, without being concerned about being sued for doing so.
So while our level of "legalese" may seem a bit much, trust us - there's always a reason for it.
